A major fire broke out on the edge of Dartmoor in Cornwood on the evening of Friday, February 28. Emergency services, including four fire engines and special appliances, were quickly dispatched to tackle the 600-meter firefront.

According to a witness speaking to Plymouth Live, an individual on a quad bike was seen starting multiple fires in the Lee Moor area before leaving the scene. Approximately 20 to 30 minutes later, the fire brigade arrived and stated they had no prior information about a controlled fire, prompting them to take immediate action.

A spokesperson from the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the incident, stating, "We have been attending a fire at Cornwood, a 600-meter firefront. Four fire engines plus special appliances were dispatched. The fire has reduced now, but some units remain at the scene. We are currently unaware of the cause."

Authorities continue to monitor the situation, and investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
