The allegations involve misuse of police systems and an inappropriate relationship with a member of the public. His next court appearance is scheduled for April.

A former officer of the Devon and Cornwall Police, Martyn Newitt, 39, from Dobwalls, Liskeard, has appeared in court charged with misconduct and computer misuse. He admitted to causing a computer to perform a function that enabled unauthorized access to a program or data.

These offenses reportedly took place between June 25, 2020, and April 13, 2021. Additionally, between May 2020 and December 2021, Newitt allegedly engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a member of the public he had met while on duty.

During his hearing at Bristol Magistrates' Court, Newitt did not formally plead guilty but indicated his intention to admit to the second charge regarding the inappropriate relationship. Appearing in court dressed in a black suit and tie, he confirmed his name, address, and date of birth.

The court has scheduled his next appearance at Bristol Crown Court in April. District Judge Lynne Matthews granted him unconditional bail pending further proceedings.
