A major fire broke out at a house on Blandford Road in Plymouth on Wednesday, March 26. Emergency services, including police, fire, and ambulance crews, responded to the incident around 3:49 PM. Several witnesses reported seeing smoke billowing from the roof and flames emerging from the property.
The Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service reported receiving multiple calls regarding the fire at a semi-detached property. Upon arrival, crews found the first floor engulfed in flames, which had spread to a neighboring property. Firefighters used two hose reel jets and a safety jet to contain and extinguish the fire. They also checked nearby properties to ensure the fire did not spread further.
At the scene, all persons were accounted for, and those who were injured were treated by paramedics. The police confirmed that a woman was rescued from the property and was being checked by paramedics. There were also reports of road closures in both directions on Blandford Road, from Dartmeet Avenue to Carlton Close, due to the fire.
The fire services are continuing their efforts to fully contain the blaze. As of 7:57 PM, Blandford Road was reopened. Emergency teams are also keeping the public updated through live blogs.
