Missing 10-Year-Old Girl Found Safe After Search in Devon

A 10-year-old girl who went missing for several hours in Devon was located by search and rescue teams. She was found cold but unharmed after an overnight search.

A 10-year-old girl who had been missing for several hours was located by search and rescue teams in Devon late on Monday night. She was found cold but otherwise unharmed.

The Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team in Tavistock joined the search for the child after being contacted by police at around 9.30 pm on April 7. Concerns were raised for the girl's welfare due to her young age, light clothing, and the cold weather forecast overnight.

Thankfully, one of the teams, which included a doctor, found the child just after 10.40 pm and were able to warm her up with an insulated jacket and a hot drink.

The Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team stated: 'Search parties were deployed to places in the town where young people often meet up.' At 10:42 pm, one of the teams, which included a doctor, located the child, who was cold but otherwise unharmed. They provided her with an insulated jacket and a hot drink while waiting for police to arrive at the scene, who then took over her care.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police added: 'We were called at 8:45 pm on Monday, April 7, to reports of a missing 10-year-old girl from the Tavistock area. We sent units to the area, including dog units, drone units, and the search and rescue team. She was found safe and well at 10:45 pm.'
