Plymouth Woman Lea Dobson Set for TV Stardom After 'Come Dine with Me' Appearance

Lea Dobson, a Plymouth resident, is gaining attention after appearing on 'Come Dine with Me'. The mother-of-one, who came second in the competition, is now receiving offers for other television opportunities.

A Plymouth woman could be set for TV stardom after catching the public's attention on Channel 4's Come Dine with Me. Lea Dobson, from Southway, came second in the recently aired cookery competition and has since received offers for further television work.

Describing herself humorously as a “big Janner Barbie” after having to wear pink, the mother has already turned down an opportunity to appear on the popular dating show Married at First Sight but has been approached to join Blankety Blank. Lea said, “I’m definitely looking at something and would love to do something else - 100%. I’ve got the taste for it now.”

Lea, a support worker, competed in the mid-February episode of Come Dine with Me, alongside four other Plymouth locals: Slain McGough Davey, Katie Coates, Stephen Connolly, and the eventual winner, Nina. Although Lea tied for second place with Katie, she wasn’t entirely satisfied with her cooking. “Katie or Nina would have been worthy winners,” she said. “I gave Katie eight, Nina seven and the boys six. But I don’t think I should have been joint second with Katie. My starter was OK but my main was horrendous.”

Despite her dish not impressing everyone, Lea won over viewers with her bold personality, humor, and distinctive Plymouth accent. “I’m just going to look like a big Janner Barbie,” she quipped when contestants were required to wear pink. Many fans loved her natural charm and the way she stayed true to herself throughout the competition.

Lea revealed that the contestants didn’t get to see the final episodes until they were aired on Channel 4. She explained, “We didn’t get to see any of it. It was really good, but so much was cut out. They were at my house from 8am until midnight and only left for two hours for me to get changed. So I think the episodes should be longer.”

Looking to the future, Lea is eager to continue her TV journey. She explained, “I’d like to do more telly. I think I thrived off it. I’ve always wanted to do something on TV or the radio, I’ve always wanted to do something with reality TV. I love it.”

Lea's newfound TV fame has led to increased attention, with talent scouts reaching out to her for more opportunities. She’s already making plans to meet with her fellow contestants to watch the show together, sharing the excitement of the experience and the friendships she’s made.
