Tributes Flow for Beloved Teacher Kelly Luscombe After Her Sudden Passing

Plymouth High School for Girls' PE teacher Kelly Luscombe has passed away suddenly, leaving her students, colleagues, and the community heartbroken. Tributes have poured in, remembering her as a kind, supportive, and inspirational teacher.

Tributes have been pouring in for Kelly Luscombe, a PE teacher at Plymouth High School for Girls (PHSG), following her sudden death earlier this week. The news has left her students, colleagues, and friends devastated, with many remembering her as a kind, supportive, and inspirational teacher who will be deeply missed.

One former student said: “She was my PE teacher for a couple of years around Covid times. She was always so lovely and supportive. So heartbroken for her family and her students. She will be missed, may she rest in peace.” Another person added, “Such sad news, she was so supportive of my daughter during her years at the school. A truly inspirational lady.”

Many others shared similar sentiments, remembering Kelly for her caring nature and the positive impact she had on their lives. One person wrote, “My PE teacher for a few months. One of the most caring teachers I’d ever had. She was so supportive, kind and also knew when to put a smile on someone’s face. I wish all the best for her family. May she rest in peace.”

Kelly Luscombe was not only a beloved teacher but also the captain of the women’s team at Bovey Tracey Cricket Club, where she was admired by everyone who knew her. The club shared the heartbreaking news, saying, “Kelly was loved and admired by everyone who knew her. From the moment she arrived at our club, she was like a breath of fresh air, inspiring and encouraging so many women and girls to play cricket – we will all miss her desperately.” The flag at the club is flying at half-mast as a mark of respect.

The club further expressed their condolences, adding, “Our thoughts are entirely with Kelly’s family and friends at this time – they are all part of our cricket family. It is going to take time for us all to process our loss.”

Simon Underdown, headteacher at PHSG, expressed his sorrow, saying, “Our school community is absolutely devastated by the tragic loss of one of our much-loved teachers. Our deepest thoughts are with Kelly’s family, friends, and loved ones during this incredibly challenging time.” He remembered Kelly for her dedication to her students, stating, “She ensured they were excited about exercise, especially cricket, where she had a deep pride for her team, and she was always warm, kind, and supportive.”

Mr. Underdown assured the community that the school would work alongside Kelly’s family to decide how best to commemorate her life and celebrate her time at PHSG. He added, “We ask that the family’s privacy is respected during this time, and we are doing everything we can to support our pupils and colleagues as we process this terribly upsetting news together.”
