Miron Muslic Backs Plymouth Argyle to Survive After Stunning Comeback Win Over Sheffield United

Plymouth Argyle head coach Miron Muslic remains optimistic about avoiding relegation after a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory over Sheffield United. The team now sits just four points from safety with four matches left in the Championship season.

Plymouth Argyle head coach Miron Muslic has expressed renewed hope for the club's survival in the Championship following a dramatic 2-1 victory over promotion-chasing Sheffield United at Home Park.

Despite still sitting at the bottom of the table, Argyle cut the gap to safety to just four points, with four matches remaining. The result was further boosted by defeats for fellow relegation contenders Luton Town and Cardiff City.

Speaking after the game, Muslic said: 'So many people are writing us off, but it's always up to us. If we can continue to perform like today, we have a chance.'

The match saw Argyle fall behind late in the first half when Jesurun Rak-Sakyi curled a left-footed shot past Conor Hazard in the 44th minute. However, Ryan Hardie equalised in the 81st minute, scoring his ninth goal in 11 games from close range following a scramble in the box.

Substitute Muhamed Tijani then secured the win in the 88th minute with a low strike past former Argyle keeper Michael Cooper, completing a sensational comeback. It was only Tijani's second goal of the season, coming during a loan spell disrupted by injuries.

Muslic explained the tactical switch: 'I went all in with Tijani for the final 30 minutes. We had to take risks and he helped immediately. He gave us a presence up front and rewarded himself with a brilliant goal.'

The coach also praised his team's mental resilience and strategy, saying: 'At half-time, the message was clear: we can do this. We knew Sheffield would push for a second, but once we equalised, they became nervous.'

The emotional win ended with some tension, as cameras captured a heated exchange between striker Mustapha Bundu and Sheffield manager Chris Wilder. Muslic played down the incident, saying: 'There was a lot of emotion, but nobody crossed the line.'

Argyle will need to continue this fighting spirit in the final weeks of the season to secure their place in the Championship for another year. Muslic concluded: 'This win should give us belief. We can achieve the almost impossible.'
